Upcycled Thursdays - Jewelry boxes

For a long time I've wanted to refurbish vintage furniture. I've done a couple pieces for my home but nothing major.  Unfortunately I have yet to figure out a way to cheaply and easily ship furniture.  Therefore I will not be upcycling furniture for HDV.  However, I've found a way to refurbish on a much smaller scale. I have started upcycling vintage wood jewelry boxes.

And now the after pictures:

I love these! Each box is unique, each one tells a story, and each box offers plenty of storage for jewelry. But they don't stop there. I have a refurbished box on my desk. It keeps my office supplies beautifully organizedMy daughter has chosen a box which I will refurbish for her bedroom. She will use it for all her special keepsakes such as polly pockets, hair supplies, chapstick, stickers and whatever else she finds valuable on that particular day.

Not all of the boxes in the above pictures have been listed on HDV, but they will be. I also have a few wood boxes I have yet to refurbish to be sure to stay tuned to HDV for new creations.

Thank you for reading my blog
and
Have a Happy Day!

  1. What a great idea to choose such personal and lovely items to rescue and repurpose. These will make wonderful gifts. Wouldn't it make the most perfect gift to have you redo Grandma's jewelry box for a new bride shower gift?
I'm going to suggest to my retail blog readers that these will make nice jewelry displays in shops, too.

    1. Thank you, Becky. I have such a great time creating these. They are great gifts. They are personal, unique and something a girl will use again and again.
As for displays, I have had a couple couple individuals buy groupings of jewelry boxes to stack and create an original (yet changeable) display.
Thank you for your post and Have a Happy Day!

  2. I have one wood jewelery box that I painted because when found it had alot of scratches and had been colored on. But painting quickly transformed it to beautiful, just like the ones you have made. I love the green 4 drawer it is so pretty!

  4. Genius! I have a lovely piece that's identical to the one my Mom had while we were growing up, but I think I'm going to glam it up a bit to use in my craft fair display! Thanks for the inspiration...

    1. Hello Robin,
I'm so very sorry for the delayed response. I honestly never saw these comments until now. Anyway, I use spray paint. I always start with a primer and then do a couple layers of spray paint. I hope this helps.

  11. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but
I find this topic to be really something which I think I would never
understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me.
I'm looking forward for your next post, I'll try to

  13. First off I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question that I'd like to ask if you don't mind.
I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your head prior to
writing. I have had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there.
I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes
are wasted just trying to figure out how to begin.
    Any suggestions or hints? Thanks!

  19. Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said
"You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the shell
to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and
it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I
know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!

While LTE affects only data, voice calls I made on the laptop side sooner or later, but no real exterior changes -- many were disappointed. To their credit, though, Cute Watching Girl touches a nerve when you fire it up and spend a few quiet moments with it.
